FRF to sponsor Pure Rawk Awards 2011
We are proud to announce our sponsorship of the Pure Rawk Awards 2011.
The winner of the New Band of the Year Award will have the chance to have a top end music video made for free.
Not only will the New Band of the Year winners receive a trophy designed by Andrew Cooper, who produced the much talked about 2010 Awards trophies, but also a fully produced video worth £1000.
Editor and founder, Nicola “Nix” Crichton says: “Alliances like this enrich the purpose of the awards even more and give a much needed boost to bands in tough economic times. Free Running Films is the first in a few companies hopping on board to promote the Pure Rawk cause. We’ll be celebrating our fifth birthday so this year’s awards will be extra special”.
The open vote for the awards is open until 12.00am Sunday 9th January 2011 where a shortlist will be drawn up and published on Monday 10th January 2011. Readers will then be able to vote for one of the shortlisted bands who will be announced as winners on Friday 25th February 2011.
For further information on the awards, go to www.purerawk.com/awards.

Drag The Lake shoot done
Had a brilliant shoot with Drag the Lake for their song Dead Form The Neck Up on Sunday.
The lads performed brilliantly and only almost threw up once.
I also managed to use my new track dolly quite a bit. And I only managed to blow out two lights this time round.
Photos to follow soon. Keep checking the FRF Facebook page!

Warlords done. Drag The Lake & illuminatus are next.
Just a quick update to say that the video for Shut Down by Warlords from Bristol is now online.
Two more projects for Drag The Lake and illuminatus, both from Nottingham, are already undergoing pre-production and will be shot throughout July and August.
And there are rumours of another one with LA's My Ruin for later in the year.... fingers crossed.
In the meantime, check out the live video FRF shot for a My Ruin show in Glasgow (edited by their guitar-hero Mick Murphy)...

Warlord Shoot, Bristol
Shoot with Warlord went great. Did about 10 hours of filming, putting the band well and truly through their paces. But they performed very well and never complained when I asked for "just one or two more takes". And in the end, I think, all the hard work paid off and I managed to get some good footage in the can.
Unfortunately my lights did start acting up again, three going down for some reason or another (melting cables?) and one exploding in a burst of glory. So will be spending a few hours sorting them all out and looking for a way to avoid this situation next time round.
Will start taking the stuff down tonight and have a first scan of how to put it all together. Going for the "jam" / "rocking out" vibe again, as I think it will suit them and their song best.
I will however also take this one as an opportunity to play around with After Effects a bit more, making the lads look even scarier than they already are.
I also took some photos throughout the day and will upload them soon.
Cheers!

Internet Spam and other delicatessen
Just a little post to test my N900 and its spamming capabilities across the gazillion internet blogs, sites and other arenas I find myself being a member of these days.
I'm also still working on the official FRF website together with my pals @ BigSpring (http://ping.fm/VRI4o) and will hopefully have that online soon.
And having just published the video for Order Of Voices (www.youtube.com/watch?v=C-nzLIaj9eQ) it's also time to work out a treatment for the one I'm doing for Warlord from Bristol (www.metalwarlord.com) in two weeks time.
Until then... have a happy Easter!
